Gloria Majestatis
Jubilate Deo
Misericordia Serenitas
Te Deum was originally used in ceremonies of thanksgiving, but it gradually evolved into a musical theme for festive occasions as well. Cardinal’s Te Deum, composed in 1674, is a continuation of this tradition. A pupil of Lully, Cardinal originally conceived this early work as part of a sacred motet, but it was later adapted into an independent piece, dedicated to Louis II de Bourbon in commemoration of his glorious victory over Prince William of Orange at the Battle of Seneffe.
